With 7 years of experience and a Master's from Catholic University, Giovonni Hinton (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, poet, singer, and workshop facilitator whose work centers healing, music, and liberation for those who have learned to survive quietly. As a multicultural lesbian, Giovonni specializes in working with anxious women of color and LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, who are navigating overthinking, life transitions, relationship challenges, disconnection from self, and more. She supports clients in reclaiming their voice, setting boundaries, trusting their inner knowing, and making decisions with confidence rather than fear.
Giovonni works with adult clients 18 and older and integrates longterm psychotherapy with prompt solution-focused approaches that include somatic techniques, mindful and grounding exercises, shadow and parts work, and intuitive guidance. Her work is grounded in the belief that creative expression through writing, reading, and music is not a luxury, but a survival tool, especially for those whose stories have been silenced. Giovonni is on a mission to help you restore your faith in yourself, have hope for the future, and elevate your day-to-day life fulfillment.
Her clinical style is warm, collaborative, and deeply intentional. She practices from an anti-racist and anti-oppressive framework and is committed to creating spaces where clients feel emotionally safe, affirmed, and fully human. With intention, dignity, and humor (when appropriate), Giovonni invites clients to soften their nervous systems, reconnect with their inner voice, and move toward lives that feel more aligned, grounded, and self-directed.
In addition to her clinical work, Giovonni facilitates trauma-informed workshops and community spaces that center reflection, journaling & poetry. Through these offerings, she helps people return back to themselves and to one another, reminding them that healing does not happen in isolation.
When Giovonni is not at work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with loved ones, and devoting time to self-care through movement, rest, and nourishing the practices and experiences that bring her joy. She believes in a limitless bliss of enjoying sound baths, sci-fi movies, cooking, baking, and trying sushi spots all over the DC area.
Giovonni sees individual clients ages 18+ years old and couples/relationships in person in Arlington, VA, or telehealth elsewhere. Licensed and able to see clients in VA and DC. Coaching available in other states when clinically appropriate. She is currently taking new clients by booking a consult at the link below or emailing giovonni@lgbtcounselingdmv.com.
