Currently, clinical supervision for pre-licensed individuals is available from SC Nealy, LPC, approved Virginia Board of Counseling Supervisor for LPC and LMFT residents.
We approach supervision from a collaborative framework, typically serving as an educator, consultant, and/or counselor. Professional development, skill acquisition, client/case conceptualization, and increasing self-awareness are examples of the general areas we cover in supervision.
Religious Trauma Consultation Group: Led by SC Nealy, this group focuses on case consultations and peer education around religious trauma in the community, and how to work with clients with religious trauma backgrounds. Reach out to snealy@lgbtcounselingdmv.com to inquire about joining.
Queer Clinical Consultation and Supervision Group: Led by SC Nealy, this group meets in person and focuses on working with the queer population and their families. Reach out to snealy@lgbtcounselingdmv.com to inquire about joining.
We believe in a tiered approach at supervision, meaning that we encourage our supervisors to also have supervisors. Similarly, we strongly believe in case consultations for fully licensed therapists and always working toward continued personal and professional development.
We love to provide trainings and workshops/seminars to other clinical practices, programs, hospitals, and/or businesses that want information on how to best work with the queer community from a mental health standpoint. Some of our previous workshops and talks have been on inclusive workplace environments for LBGT+ employees, working with religious trauma in clients through a complex trauma lens, sex therapy and disordered eating, DBT skills, and more. Please email info@lgbtcounselingdmv.com to inquire about bringing a clinician in for a training for your business.
