Imani Fraser (they/he/she) identifies as nonbinary and queer, and is a Master’s level Art Therapist under the supervision of SC Nealy, LPC working with children (8 and over), adolescents, and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity development /discovery/ reconciliation, and relationship management. They received their Master’s of Art in Art Therapy from The George Washington University and they utilize art therapy, talk therapy, and play therapy in their work with clients and families, prioritizing a person-centered, existential, and multicultural theoretical approach. As a therapist, their goal is to safely and gently create the space the client needs to understand more about themselves and how their identity and behaviors influence their relationships and life.
Imani has a special interest in working with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ teens and young adults, as well as those managing chronic medical/mental health conditions, including OCD and the spectrum of neurodiversity. Maintaining a clinical lens of affirmation and diversity is of utmost value to Imani and their work with marginalized identities.
Imani also enjoys facilitating an array of group therapy experiences, including celebrating and honoring the experiences of refugees, cultivating space for grief and loss within the military, and programs for creative expression amongst adolescents and young adults. They are currently interested in working with teens and young adults on exploring art therapy

Art Therapy aims to encourage free, unhindered self-expression through coloring, painting, drawing, or modeling in the therapeutic space with the aid of an art therapist. Through utilizing our creative spirits, we seek to heal parts of ourselves that can be more difficult to access. This method is particularly useful with child and adolescent clients, and assists with teaching communication through non-verbal means.
Imani has extensive experience working with neurodiverse adolescents and young adults, and loves helping clients feel seen in their individuality. Utilizing varied therapeutic techniques, including kinetic and somatic methods, Imani brings neurodiversity to the forefront of sessions.
With a special interest in those struggling with visible and invisible chronic illnesses and medical concerns, Imani sees clients in a holistic manner that looks at people as a whole. The overlap of our physical and psychological experiences are extremely important and Imani wants to make sure those intersections are respected.
It's incredibly important to Imani to offer therapy spaces that include lived experience and intentionality in respecting and involving BIPOC and marginalized identities in the therapy space. As a marginalized identity racially and ethnically themselves, they understand the importance of bringing racial and cultural backgrounds into the therapy space.
Depression and anxiety can be deeply aided by artistic and creative approaches to therapy. Working on soothing our nervous systems through art and talk therapy, Imani specializes in helping us access and reframe our anxious thoughts to avoid them impacting our behaviors.
With a passion for children, adolescents, and young adults, Imani aims to help clients in those age ranges (8+ years old and up) find their voice, learn to express and self-advocate, and work toward building their identities in safe and neutral settings.
